Research shows increase in Victoria tourism

AusBN – New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria contributed nearly 80% of the A$40 billion made last year by the tourism industry in Australia.

Tourism Research Australia released the data, which also recorded that a large percentage of the overall $1.3 billion increase nationwide came from New South Wales and Victoria.

Queensland suffered a tourism decline along with Western Australia and the Northern Territory.

Victoria’s Minister for Tourism and Major Events, John Eren, said: “With our impressive calendar of events and our strong army of tourism operators and experts, it’s no wonder Victoria is flexing its muscle as a leader in the field.

“Our calendar of events is the envy of our competitors.

“That’s why we have commissioned the Victorian Visitor Economy Review. It will map out a plan to ensure Victoria stays at the top of the game.”
